ATTENTION

 

All 2017 City Taxes are due Wednesday, December 20, 2017.

The City Hall office will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2017 & Tuesday, December 26, 2017 as well for Christmas Holidays.

 

Advanced Disposal will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2017 for Christmas holiday.

However, Advanced Disposal will continue to pick up all Resdiental Garbage service for Monday's schedule on Tuesday, December 26, 2017,

Tuesday's schedule on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 & Wednesday's schedule on Thursday, December 28, 2017.

Also, all Commercial Garbage services will be pick up on normal business days, which is on a Friday, December 29, 2017.  

 

Please be advise the City Hall office is open EVERY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON during our business hours 8:30am-4:30pm.  

 

All City Utility Bills are due by the 10th of each month.

 

 

UTILITY BILL DUE DATE

 

All City Customers, please be advised all City Utility bills are due by Monday, December 11, 2017.

Please plan to make arrangements to pay towards your City Utility bills BEFORE or BY this due date to avoid the 10% Late Penalty fees.

The Late charges will be applied towards all City customers services on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

NEW PAYMENT POLICY

 

The City Hall-Customer Service Clerks will no longer accept payments placed in the Drop box after the Deadline Date by 4:30p.m, nor will we be accepting Online payments that was submitted on the following morning of CUT-OFF DAY.

 

If you fail to make a payment by the deadline, then as a result, on CUT OFF Day, all City Services will be discontinued and all City customers are required to pay an extra $25 Re-Connect Fee, plus current past due balance.

 

Again, all City customers have until the Deadline Date depending on which date the 20th falls on each following month to make a payment in full by 4:30p.m.

 

However, we're still accepting online payments made before or by the Deadline Date at 11:59p.m. The City Hall New Payment Policy became effective on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

5 YEAR HISTORY MILLAGE OF LEVY

 

The City of Cochran does hereby announce that the millage rate for 2017 will be set at a Public Hearing to be held at the Cochran Community House at 192 Third Street on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 7:00p.m. This is pursuant to the requirements of O.C.G.A. Section 48-5-32. The City does hereby publish the following presentation of the current year's tax digest and levy, along with the history of the tax digest and levy for the past five years.

EXCESS FLOW VALVE NOTICE

Excess Flow Valves (EFV's ) are mechanical shut-off devices that can be installed in the natural gas pipe running to the gas meter at your property (the service line). An EFV is designed to shut off most of the flow of natural gas automatically if the service line breaks, for example, by an excavation accident. Stopping the flow of gas from a broken service line significantly reduces the risk of natural gas fire, explosion, personal injury and/or property damage.

 

You must request for the City of Cochran to install an excess flow valve on the service line to your property.

 

If you notify us that you want and EFV we will contact you to discuss your specific circumstances and the cost of installation and maintenance. EFV's cannot be installed on some service lines due to the high gas flow, low pressure or other factors. If you request an EFV we will inform you if your service line can accommodate an EFV.

 

If an EFV can be installed on your service line and you choose to have one installed, we will set up a mutally agreeable date when we will install and EFV on your service line.

 

You will be billed the cost to install the EFV, depending on the specific circumstances associated with your service line and property, the cost would be between $1,000 and $1,500.

 

If, in the future, it becomes necessary to maintain or replace the EFV on your service line, you will be billed $750.

SEWER LINE REPAIRS

 

The City has contracted with American Infrastructure Technologies Corporation (AITC) to repair sewer lines and manholes.  Residents may see AITC equipment or vehicles in their neighborhood working on sewer improvements.  If your residence has a sewer back-up resulting from AITC's work, or if you have a question about this project, please call City Hall at 478-934-6346. 

 

BULK WASTE, GARBAGE & YARD WASTE SERVICES

 

Bulk waste pick-up schedule is held on 2nd Saturday of each month with the first pick-up on Saturday, December 9, 2017.

No more than three household items, such as furniture, will be picked up.  Bulk waste is limited up to 75 lbs per household.

Residents should not place their bulk waste at the curb until the morning of the 2nd Saturday of each month, to prevent the bulk waste from becoming a nuisance.
