Full-Time Code Enforcement/Building Inspector - Public Works Department

The City of Cochran is seeking a code enforcement officer/building inspector to join our Public Works team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical duties in support of the City’s local code enforcement program; monitors and enforces a variety of applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, land use, nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water waste, and other matters of public concern; and serves as a resource and provides information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public, other City departments and divisions, review approved development and site plans, inspect building foundations, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC approvals, issue approved building permits, and issue stop work due to unapproved projects, building violations or inaccurate plans in accordance to City Ordinances and ICC regulations.

This position is full-time 40 hours a week and does require after-hours work and attending City meetings. This position is required to obtain a Level 1 certification through the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) and an Inspection license through the International Code Council (ICC). This position is supervised by the Public Works Director and City Manager.

Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk

The City of Cochran is soliciting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk. Applications and resumes will be received at City Hall until Monday, May 6, 2024 @ 4p.m.

City Hall is located at 112 West Dykes Street near downtown Cochran. In addition to the City application form, applicants are encouraged to include a cover letter and resume with at least three professional references. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.

The Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk reports to the City Clerk at City Hall and is responsible for processing and verifying invoices, working with department heads and vendors, issuing purchase orders, processing bi-weekly payroll and other duties including assistance with utility collections.

Public Works Laborer - Part Time

The City of Cochran is seeking a skilled laborer to join our Public Works team. The skilled laborer will operate a Zero-Turn or other mower in City rights-of-ways, public building, and the City cemetery. This position also involves operating vehicles, tractors, chain saws, cutters and pruning saws. A strong work ethic, and attention to detail and safety are essential.
Position is part-time averaging 28 hours per week. Position is supervised by the Public Works Department Street Supervisor.
